Philanthropy:

  • The Ford Foundation was created by Edsel and Henry Ford in 1936.  On their deaths in the 1940’s, it became the largest foundation in the world.

  • According to its website, The Ford Foundation’s mission is “to reduce poverty and injustice, strengthen democratic values, promote international cooperation, and advance human achievement.”

 

Fast Facts:

 

  • Founded the Ford Motor Company

  • Developed the moving assembly line, which brought automobile parts to workers, and increased production speeds

  • The Model T was introduced in 1908, by 1918 half of all cars driven in America were Model T’s.

  • Today, Ford is the second-largest U.S. automaker
